Screenwriting

Julian had originally gone to Southampton University with thoughts of a career in journalism, following in his dad's footsteps. But when acting reared its somewhat adventurous head, pens and keyboards were put away...that is, until five years ago.

Under the production name Grapple Films, Julian  has six screenplays currently taking journeys in the big wide world...

* Buccaneer's Cove - a fun, high-energy family adventure set on a tropical island against the world of scuba diving. This was recently a Finalist in the Screenwriting Competition at the Big Bear International Film Festival. With exciting Puerto Rican director, Rafi Mercado (Miente) attached to direct, the producers are looking to a Winter 2010 shoot in Puerto Rico.

*The Cat Hunt (co-written with Paul Owen) - based on the classic '50s novel The Custard Boys by John Rae, a timely drama in the vein of Stand by Me and Lord of the Flies. A Texas army base, a Muslim in a Christian world, and young boys with guns create a volatile mixture with explosive results. Co-produced with Chip Diggins.

* A Life Done with Dying -  the amazing, true story of John Keaveney ... a journey of personal redemption that brought him from Glasgow's violent gangland to the life of a heroin addicted US soldier to a place today where he wakes up every morning in Los Angeles to fight for troubled and homeless Vets.
It is the story of man who only became a warrior when he learned to stop fighting.            Co-produced with Katy Haber (Blade Runner).

*The Bookworm - a dark, sexual thriller about loneliness and urban dysfunction.

* Bang, Bang! - his first screenplay. It's Trainspotting meets John Ford as three likely lads from London head across the States on a wild "pilgrimage"...

* Lone Pine -  a drama set against the world of domestic terrorism.
